Learning to set S.M.A.R.T goals

The purpose of this article is to learn how to properly build and shape your personal goals, as well as to make them more effective so that you are able to realize your needs and desires. And now you wonder how this will be done. Through a tool called S.M.A.R.T, which we will discover together below.

The S.M.A.R.T tool comes from the acronym Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time bound (with a time limit). S.M.A.R.T is a brilliant method that will help you make your personal goals more effective by following the five (5) steps each time.

Starting to set a personal goal, as a 1st step you have to make it as specific and clear as possible. That is, you will have to clarify to yourself in detail what exactly it is that you want to achieve in a certain way.

In your 2nd step, it is good to make your goal measurable. It is very important if you want to achieve the goals you set to make them measurable using among other numbers (“I want to get 17 in the test”).

Then, in the 3rd step, the goal you set each time must be achievable. In order to achieve your goals, they must be based on your capabilities so that they can be realized (“I want to take part in a school half-marathon – I know that with good training I can manage to run all the kilometers”).

Also, when planning a personal goal you have to check as a 4th step if it is realistic. That is, that the goals you set should be able to actually happen based on the circumstances of your life (“I want to travel to the moon tomorrow”).

The last step is the 5th.In order to make your goals more effective is to determine the time. This basically means that when setting a goal it is very useful to always think about its timeframe and duration (“I will do gymnastics 3 times a week, for 40 minutes, in the next 2 months”).

Think again now about your personal goals or try to put new ones through the S.M.A.R.T tool and you will be amazed at how effective they will become.
